The Presence of God

The Presence of God

Lyndon brought us a sermon on the Presence of God starting with Ps 139:1-7.  Verse 7 says “Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?”  Indeed, where?  We do not want to do church without God.  Everyone wanted to be with Jesus.   Because when we are near Jesus we will see things.  Being around Jesus upsets the normal life, it causes a response or reaction from those around us.
Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit who is with us forever (read John 14:16 & 17).  That’s why the family of God is so powerful, because the Spirit of God within us connects.  We experience the presence of God and it comes out in worship, preaching and in connecting with others.  When we encounter Him we have an overwhelming experience, God wants to give us everything.
There are 3 reasons why we all need to experience God:
  1. Joy.  Ps 16:11 says “You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.”
  2. His Presence. Ex 33:14 says “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
  3. Refreshing. Acts 3:19 says “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
Are you experiencing times of refreshing from the Lord?  To experience the presence of the Lord, you need to be aware of the presence of the Lord.  Think of it as hosting the the presence of the Lord on a daily basis.
