Loving through Proverbs – Pt1

Loving through Proverbs – Pt1

Ps Andre spoke about Loving through Proverbs.

Proverbs 3 is all about Trust – trusting God.  Loving the Lord and trusting the Lord is synonymous.

V3 & 4 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.  Loyalty and kindness are to be one of the first things people should see about you.  It’s the culture of loyalty and kindness on your life that can bring favour to your life.

V5 & 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.  TRUST.  Sometimes we over rationalise what we are thinking.  Our understanding is finite but Gods is infinite.  Is 55:9 As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

V7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.  So often we trust in our own wisdom.  Pride is the enemy of trust, it is a huge issue in our lives.  The wisdom of the wise is not to be impressed by your own wisdom.  Acknowledge who God is and turn away from evil.

V9 & 10 Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.  Finances are the lowest form of stewardship – Sam Monk.  Trust and love are synonymous.  Absolute freedom comes from absolute surrender.

V11 & 12 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son He delights in.  God corrects with love and care.  Trust loving mentors and people who go the extra mile with you, they can give you biblical correction as well.

V21 & 22 My son, preserve sound judgement and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.  Sometimes when you lean on your own understanding you are so far in it that you cant see beyond anything else.  God gives us wisdom and understanding.   Pray, “Lord give me wisdom and understanding.”  Someone who is using the gift of discernment, common sense to attracting like a necklace.

V33 – 35  The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.  He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.  The wise inherit honour, but fools he holds up to shame.  You will be dishonoured, offended (don’t hold on to it), mocked, ridiculed and people will say stuff about you.  Trust the Lord, He will sort it out.  Retribution is the Lords.  God is in charge, don’t waste time or breath on untruth.

Trusting the Lord is synonymous to Loving the Lord.
