King David – Pt4

King David – Pt4

On Sunday Ps Andre and Hannah shared the last part of the King David series.

Bathsheba

The prophet Nathan confronted David about his sin with another man’s wife. David when confronted, acknowledged his fault and repented.

Jesus also tells us to repent.  We are called to STOP, turn around (do a 180) and change our ways.

Folks, when all goes wrong go to God.  Praise Him first.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.  I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” – and you forgave the guilt of my sin.  Ps 32:5

David drew closer to God. It is easy to blame others or God for our stuff ups, but greatness comes from moving closer to God.

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lords unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.  Ps 32:10

God restores. From the mess that David made in his life with Bathsheba came Solomon, and further down the line came Jesus.

Betrayal

The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.

Often when people feel betrayal they will betray.  It becomes and eye for an eye.

David went to God and said, “take this (betrayal) from me.”

The biggest problem we have is that we often are trying to get the other person to see things from our side that we don’t understand what is happening on their side.

Agreement is not the goal of conflict resolution rather understanding and connection should be.

Danny Silke

Distance builds resentment long term.

Holding onto betrayal is like holding on to a sharp knife by the blade.

GO TO GOD, talk to Him first.

Finding a Successor

Godly wisdom – read 1 Kings 2

You will get wisdom from being in a close relationship with God.  Ask Him for wisdom.

Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil.  Pro 3:7

There is a BIG difference between knowledge and wisdom.

Knowledge is knowing that a Tomato is a fruit, but wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

Who are we listening to next?

David said to Solomon, have wisdom, seek God, and get that wisdom.

Put wise people around you.

Wrapping up

Weak and unstable nations, teams, organisations and workplaces can often be tracked back to weak and unstable senior leaders.  The opposite is also true – like King David.

It all comes to down to…

David chased after Gods own heart.

David changed a whole nation for years because of his relationship with God.

Seek God and have a great week.
