King David – Pt2

King David – Pt2

Ps Andre & Warren spoke about King David – part 2.

David was still a boy when God chose him to be Israel’s King.  We are told in 1 Samuel 16:13 that Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.  David had Heart over Talent.

We will all know people that have Talent over Heart (TOH),  God wants Heart over Talent (HOT), The best is Heart and Talent (HAT).

Yesterday we learnt the four attributes to be a GREAT leader.

Loyalty

God is  God, I am His servant.

No matter how other people behave, its how God behaves that really matters.  We are called to be like Him.  To show humility.

Saul was God’s anointed and David stayed loyal to him.  Even though David was loyal to Saul he could not win over Saul, however David did win over everyone else.

God the way that God directs you.

Great leaders of this world are loyal.

Handling Rejection

Rejection breeds rejection.

Deep rejection is often a fruit of desiring the constant approval of others.  Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him.  “They have credited David with tens of thousands”  he thought, “but me with only thousands.  What more can he get but the kingdom?”  1 Samuel 18:8

David however, went to God for everything at every opportunity.

  • Disconnection & Feeling Unworthy
  • Rejection
  • Identity
  • Greater understanding of God (time with God)

We are made in the image of God.

Living with the Enemy

Be an influence, even when you cannot change it.  However if you can control the change, set the right standard.

Leaders understand integrity in all situations,  fairness & honesty.

Dealing with Conflict

A good leader does not attack or rip down even in conflict.

A great leader goes even further to try and build the other up.

Good leaders trust in Gods timing.

Leave justice & vengeance up to God.

At every stage, at every obstacle, with every rejection David went to the Lord and had FAITH.
