Holy Spirit Pt2 – Suddenly

Holy Spirit Pt2 – Suddenly

Ps Andre spoke about Holy Spirit – Suddenly…

Holy Spirit is not limited to your past experiences or opinion of Him.  He does not live inside a box.  He can pop into any area of our life if we allow Him to.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.  Acts 2:1-4

Sound – Like a breath, wind energy, Spirit

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.  Gen 2:7

The newly made human body didn’t have life in it – no breath

In Acts 2 the newly made Church body didn’t have life in it – No Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit brings life

Fire – Exploding, fire burning but not burning up

The angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush.  Moses saw that through the bush was on fire it did not burn up.  So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.”  Ex 3:2-3

Moses was doing life, but not living for God.  Moses had a calling on his life.

The Holy Spirit speaks to us.  The Spirit of God is fully accessible to everybody.  He burns and refines stuff off our lives.

Speaking in Tongues

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.  The Lord said, “if as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.  Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.  Gen 11:5-7

Words have power.  (OT)God broke the momentum of man who was building his own kingdom, by introducing multiple languages.  It ended with a great scattering.

(NT)God started the momentum of the Christians who were building Gods kingdom, by introducing multiple languages.  It started with a great scattering.

At Babel God uses different languages to divide and break down MANS kingdom.  At Pentecost God uses different languages to unite and build up GODS Kingdom.

Holy Spirit brings unity

The power of the Holy Spirit is what makes a church grow.

Before the Christians were baptised in the Holy Spirit there was life there but it was missing something.  Suddenly the Holy Spirit comes and brings help.

  • He convicts us of sin
  • He permanently dwells in us
  • He seals us
  • He teaches us
  • He guides us into the truth
  • He reminds us
  • He bears fruit through us
  • He comforts us
  • He equips us with spiritual gifts
  • He fills us
  • He empowers us

A life open and full of the Holy Spirit brings fruit.  Its more important to have the Fruit of the Spirit in your life than the expression of Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Gal 5:22-23

Holy Spirit should not be an abnormal part of your life.  It’s not seasonal.

Holy Spirit is a game changer.  He wants to be involved in your life.

TODAY could be your suddenly.
