Ephesians – 6

Ephesians – 6

This week Ps Andre spoke about Ephesian 6 – The Armour of God. This chapter is made up into 4 sections:

  1. Honour your parents – it also tells us to focus on positive parenting.
  2. Slaves & Masters – think of your employment, we need to serve, love and work like we are working for God.
  3. The Armour of God (below).
  4. Final greetings.

We are in a battle, our struggle to not with flesh and blood, therefore we need to put on the full armour of God daily. By putting on the armour we will be in the power of God. Often the big struggles in life draw us towards God, while the little things (the day to day struggles, interests, activities) tend to tear us away from God. But we are told in Ephesian 6:14 to STAND – stand on His grace, faithfulness, love, what God says I am, hope & promises. Folks, don’t go looking for a fight, but don’t back down when faced with one either. 1 John 4:4 says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” And Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 says, “Lean not on your own understanding, but acknowledge God in all your ways and He will make your paths straight.” We don’t always know when the enemy is at work, be on guard against gossip…don’t trust in your feelings or your own understanding…we need to ask the Holy Spirit, “Am I wrong?”

When we put on the armour of God we carry, Gods power, authority, might, dominance, ability, absolute strength & righteous anger. So let’s put on the belt of TRUTH – it holds everything together (everything hangs off the truth); the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS – it protects your heart/soul/spirit, remember what God has done for you; (boots) gospel of PEACE – stand strong, peace means activity; shield of FAITH – have faith for others (step in for them); helmet of SALVATION – protect your brain; sword of SPIRIT – speak the word of God into being. Use it to defend and use it to attack! Hook it on the belt of truth ready to use; and PRAY – people make mistakes, pray for them, also pray for those that persecute you.
