Connecting with Others

Connecting with Others

Warren spoke about Connecting to Others.

The key word to connecting to others is LOVE.

We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

4 main Greek words for love being:

  • Storge – love for family
  • Eros – sexual love, love for my spouse
  • Phileo – love for friends
  • Agape – Love of God.  A love that does not seek to own.  God loves us good or bad.  When loving like God, it is pure worship.

“A new command I give you: love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  John 13:34 & 35

Cornerstone Connects.  Our vision – to be God’s family – the body of Christ.

We have many ways of connecting to one another, like weekly connect groups, Guess who’s coming to dinner, picnics, tramps, outings and other groups.

We are all in this together, no one is better than anyone else.  We are God’s family.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.  The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself.  There is no commandment greater than these.  Mark 30 & 31

Our community.  Our vision is to connect with our community in love.

We talk about transformation, where the love of the church spreads out into the community and it does amazing things.  This is shown in community events and IMPACT.

As a church we need to have visions on how to reach our community.  The visions come from God to you to act in our community.  That from God will be blessed, the people will be blessed.  The love of Christ gets us moving.

My children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.  1 John 3:18

Connect with the world.  Our vision to shine Christs light in the world.

The Police force, schools, healthcare, orphanages all were established by Churches and Christian communities gathered together to start something that God asked them to do.  Christians who loved enough to make a sacrifice to help people who were their neighbours.

Like those before us, we stand totally united to transform our society for Christ.

It starts with love, the results come afterwards.
