Amongst Giants – Pt3

This week Rob McArthur spoke the third part in the series Amongst Giants. Apostle Paul A sermon is a word of grace to a hurting world by a broken heart. Paul fought for freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of belief. That, that Jesus died for. The gospel is inclusive. Bad stuff happens to good people. Joseph said, “You meant to harm but God allowed it for good.” Job was an innocent man who suffered. Paul had rough times…

Philippians 3

This week Rob spoke from Philippians Ch 3, key verses from 7-11. Why did Paul say that knowing Christ was so central?  Acts 9 gives us the clue – Paul (then Saul) met Christ on the road to Damascus, where he was heading to bring the Christians back to Jerusalem to be punished.  As far as the law was concerned Saul was faultless, but still Christ asked on that road, “Saul, why do you persecute me?”  See it’s not the people Saul…

Ephesians – 3

On Sunday Rob McArthur spoke on The Battle Lines, taken from Ephesians 3. Now I am going to break it down a little different to how Rob preached: The apostle Paul was in prison when he wrote Ephesians. He knew why he was there (v1). He knew, even there, God was sovereign and could do something (v1-3 & 14). He focused on the big picture (v14-21), which was God, and through His Spirit, comprehending how big and great He, and…

Not because…

Rob spoke on Not because… based on the scripture in Mark 3:1-6. Rob said the man in this scripture was healed on the Sabbath in the synagogue not because he earned it, not because he was owed it and not because he was worthy.  Jesus shows concern for those with a disadvantage, even though the others in the synagogue didn’t want him there.  He showed them up, they were unconcerned for the needs of the people especially on a sabbath.…

Journey to Jesus – Pt6

Rob spoke ACT 6 of the Journey to Jesus series – The final word. Rev 1:4 & 5: “Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.“  How much would our lives change if this was what was at the back…

Fruit of the Spirit – Self Control

Rob reminded us that there is a battle going on and one of our weapons is self-control.  Gal 5:16 says we are to live by the spirit.  God invites us to battle, but He is still involved – He builds self-control in us.  Think about it, self-control is central to many things.  God is for us, He is at work in us.   Our very lives are a work of God, so give the control of an area of life to God that you…
